Webcast: Climate & Equity Lab Results – 5 levers for change

In 2023, Gore Mutual Foundation Launched the Climate & Equity Lab in partnership with Social Innovation Canada and York University.  A series of research labs were launched to gain a better understanding of how climate change is impacting the most vulnerable populations in Canadian urban centers.  The Labs explored options for the right solutions to mitigate that impact.

Through this work, Gore Mutual found there is a unique opportunity to look at the interconnection among poverty, equity and climate change.  The Labs created an understanding of how the impacts of climate change are already being felt, and will continue to impact Canada’s most vulnerable community members in urban environments, including the increasing number of  Canadians who are deemed “uninsurable”.

With Phase 1 of the Climate & Equity Lab complete, a White Paper will be released related to the findings, as well as the identification of 5 Levers of Change.

1) an overview of the work of the Climate & Equity Lab,

2) the results of the Lab’s Phase 1 including the identified 5 Levers of Change, and

3) what can be expected from the work of Phase 2, which will be launched in Fall, 2024.
