SUMMARY:Module 5 - Social Impact Measurement Professional Certificate
DESCRIPTION:Module 5: Data Collection Plan & Alignment with Business Case Constraints & Opportunities (Micro-Credential)\nPrerequisite: Complete Module 3 and 4 prior to this session to maximize its value and receive a Certificate. \nIn this Module create a plan to leverage technology to collect\, compile\, analyze and communicate reliable and credible data on the outcome-oriented metrics selected. Address and resolve the weak points in your business case based on the Culminating Assessment from Module 4\, and further develop your data collection plan by examining comparators/benchmarking data. \n\nAssess an organizations’ current data tools and identify the gap between what is available and what is needed\, and what is possible given current constraints.\nCreate a collaborative plan to assess partner information needs considering storytelling as well as information on outputs\, outcomes\, and impact.\nExamine the pros and cons of different methods of data gathering including surveys\, interviews and focus groups and choose the methods most appropriate to your impact.\n\nReview against data security and regulations\n\n\nExamine the metrics/indicators an organization currently has access to and how they might be modified or aligned with the strategy.\nIdentify benchmarking and comparators for your proposed social impact measurement.\nEvaluate data capacity\, data tools\, and data strategy.\nIdentify an ethical framework for data collection including data privacy.\nIdentify internal and external partners/all people affected who will interact with the tools\, their capacity to collect\, analyze\, interpret and take action on data\, the levels of effort required\, and develop a consultation plan.\nExamine the opportunities for working with partners/all people affected to measure.\n\nReview strategies change management and strategies for managing discussions about data collection and interpreting results.\n\n\nDescribe the best practices for data collection\, compilation\, analysis and communication.\nIdentify the financial requirements for data tools and align with the impact assessment goals.\n\nDeliverable and Culminating Assessment:\n\nCreate a plan to leverage technology to collect\, compile\, analyze and communicate reliable and credible data on the outcome-oriented metrics selected.\n\nNext Offering: February  26 & 26\, 2026 in-person\, all day\, at University of St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto. Cancellations less than 1 month but more than 2 weeks receive a 50% refund of fees paid. Confirmed registrants who cancel within 2 weeks of the course date or fail to attend\, will be charged 100% of the registration fee and are not entitled to a refund. \nUSMC reserves the right to cancel an event or any associated functions at its sole discretion. In the event of such\, a full refund will be made. USMC expressly excludes any liability for any direct or indirect losses or damages howsoever arising as a result of such cancellation and will not\, for example\, be responsible for any travel or accommodation costs incurred. \nIn the event of cancellation\, USMC will use reasonable actions to alert those who have booked to attend an event and details of any cancellation will be posted on the course website page. Attendees are responsible for checking this information prior to the event. \nAttendee name substitutions are allowed up to the day of the course.
